I was a CYT member between 1996 and 2001. I am now a student in Manchester from where I maintain this site.
Chesham Youth Theatre taught me teamworking and improvisational skills and improved my confidence tremendously. I joined CYT because I have a longstanding interest in drama and also wanted to make new friends. I was very shy but on plucking up courage to talk to some of the members I found they were very friendly and welcoming. I felt that I fitted in and so I stayed.
I have taken part in a lot of shows with Chesham Youth Theatre. My first small role was as "a fireman" in "Arthur", when I was proud to be mentioned in the review of our performance in The Chalfont St. Peter Drama Festival. Later I was one of the three strong cast of "The Cloak", which won its category at the same drama festival. Chesham Youth Theatre has given me the opportunity not only to perform a range of roles (including Marilyn Monroe!) but also to be involved with other aspects of our productions. I have learned to apply stage makeup. I made costumes and props for David Campton's "Robots". In 2001 I devised and organised "The CYT Circus", a children's show for performance at fetes.
My involvement with Chesham Youth Theatre continues through this web site. I hope it is useful to our members and helps to provides the wider audience every drama queen hopes for.
